Devi Parvati, the daughter of Parvatraja Himalaya and Menadevi and the incarnation of the primordial feminine energy- Shakti is presented here in an immaculate brass statue, crafted skillfully to give it a touch of the famous Chola sculptures. The standing Parvati statues, where the goddess appears as an eternally youthful maiden are known as “Shivagami” or “Shivakamsundari”, signifying her role as the wife of Shiva, whose heart the goddess acquires with her heavenly charms.

The brass Parvati statue stands on a two-tiered platform, with an upturned lotus as the primary base. Her lithesome body is presented beautifully in brass, giving her a graceful posture that is beautified by the fine dhoti (lower body garment) that hugs her legs, embellished with an elaborate waistband. Devi’s torso is adorned with a Channavira (thread-like ornament that parts in two on her belly), an ethnic-looking necklace, and Bajubanda (armbands) with a peacock feather motif. An imposing Jatamukut (crown made from tresses decorated with jeweled ornaments) adds to the stateliness of this brass Parvati statue.

The brass icon is carved in a rounded manner, with exquisite details presented on the reverse as well. An ethereal smile can be seen on goddess Parvati’s face, whose charm can only be compared to the fragrant and fresh lotus bud in her right hand.
